We call this type of violet ‘confederate soldiers.’ Anyone know exactly why? Anyone else know them by this name?
I live in Wisconsin, (smack dab in the Midwest of the USA.)

These violets really do have cheerful faces. I am not sure how they could become ‘confederates’. Hopefully this mystery will be cleared up soon.
