a mythos born

yesterday I posted on “Manor”
a photo and thoughts about an angel
caught between heaven and earth —

which led to this similarity —
and a song

faucon
……………………………………………….selchie

SELCHIE WINGS

When the tides run thin on sculptured sands
and the Mistress kiss is n’er be seen
you’ll hear the mist sing to the foam –

“I am a man upon the land
I am a selchie on the sea”

When the winds pull bright on troubled souls
and the Goddess veil hides nether moon
you’ll hear the thread sing to the loom –

“I am an angel amongst the stars
I am a woman of the earth”

Find ye the skin in a niche of stone –
Find ye the wings in a glade alone –
you’ll then know of all life as one –

“I am of the Deep and Silence too
one with the Mother and Father true,
with Love’s Caress and Aegis Shield,
in search of Womb and Mystery”

for …

“I am an angel amongst the stars
I am a selchie on the sea
I am a man upon the land
I am a woman of the earth”

  1. Lovely imagery – “you’ll hear the thread sing to the loom”.

  2. Wonderful weaving of Child Ballad imagery and angels.
