Faerie Floss and Things of the Woods

Nature spreads the seeds through the forest, making new things for the faeries, practising her art in the Murmuring Woods.

Faerie Floss

Faerie Floss blooms through the woods, like gentle fireworks, rich in sweet nectar.

Faerie Letters

Faerie writing materials proliferate in the Woods, as the paper bark of this tree is often shed for this purpose.

  1. This tree is a melaleuca, with similar seed placement to the bottlebrush, but in round pods. They stay on the tree, too, creating a kind of tree history. The bark is really paper-like, and can be written on, and often collage pictures are made from it, as my grandmother would attest to.

  2. SEED: “practising her art”

    FITZ Title:

    practice is but prelude
    to the symphony.
    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

many would practice to be perfect,
but only ‘perfect practice’ would make perfect,
such being beyond the reach of men …

others might equate practice with ‘work’,
and thereby grow in skill and wisdom
    from instrumental refining …

the artist, with touch of muse,
can see such awe and wonder —
gifting it in simple translation of being.

  3. these really are beautiful photos, Imogen, and the trees and plants you photograph are quite unlike anything we have in the northern hemisphere

  4. Yes, Carol, I am continually amazed at what this continent creates through the earth!
